MakeSense Co-Founders Interview Shabnam Aggarwal, Founder of Millee | Mobile Education For Rural Students in India
This morning I had the good fortune to meet up with Christian Vanizette, Co-Founder of MakeSense.org, a new social business start-up that links people for social business. Stay tuned for an upcoming video interview on envisionGood with Christian and business partner, MakeSense co-founder, Romain Raguin.
Currently based in southeast Asia, Christian and Romain are connecting first-hand with social entrepreneurs in India and throughout the region. They recently met up with Shabnam Aggarwal, founder of Millee, a social enterprise that uses mobile phones to teach English literacy in rural parts of India. In the video above, Christian and Romain talk with Shabnam about Millee, the challenges she faces and the resources she needs.
Trained as an engineer, Shabnam explains that her current challenges include finding good game developers to develop the games, finding good curriculum developers and educators who are familiar with their target demographic of rural children in India, and finding good mentors to help them grow, particularly mentors with business expertise who can help develop a business plan to present to investors. (Know anyone who fits this description? Be sure to let Christian, Romaine, or Shabnam know!) ; )
Through MakeSense, Christian and Romain aim to help social innovators like Shabnam by connecting them with resources, people, and expertise worldwide. It’s a big challenge to take on, but Christian and Romain – and the “gang”, as they refer to their team – are making impressive progress in a short time. I look forward to seeing MakeSense develop.
Be sure to check them out, and say hello. Stay tuned for our upcoming interview with both energetic innovators on envisionGood soon … : )
