In addition to providing web communication services, we also produce video interviews that bring to life the positive stories of social innovators worldwide. Through video, we aim to help organizations to raise awareness of their cause and brand and attract funding and supporters to their cause.

Katrina, envisionGood

Katrina Heppler, Founder

Katrina is a social web marketing strategist, web developer, and videographer. Inspired by social innovators who use business to help solve global challenges, Katrina seeks out events and people who share an interest in social innovation, technology, start-ups, international development, and philanthropy. To combine these interests, Katrina founded envisionGood, a place where organizations can raise awareness of their cause, and where viewers can gain insights from social innovators. Katrina provides strategic consulting to businesses in web marketing and online video, and has been a featured speaker at SF Bay Area community groups, including GraceWorks career program in San Francisco and Job Connections in Danville, California. Katrina is an Advisory Board Member at YouthAssets, an international organization that uses mobile technology to empower youth head-of-households and youth orphaned by AIDS in southern Africa. Katrina holds a masters degree in international business from University of California San Diego, and studied Japanese language at Jochi Daigaku/Sophia University’s Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo, Japan, as well as Spanish at Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Katrina lives in San Francisco, CA.

Shara Karasic, Social Media Strategist & Video Producer

Shara Karasic, Social Media Strategist, Los Angeles, California

Shara Karasic began her Internet career in San Francisco in 1995, and has been using social media to create great user experiences and engagement ever since. She has developed online communities for Classroom Connect, Helen and Charles Schwab Foundation, and Business.com, and has advised non-profits including MobileActive.org and YouthAssets.org. In 2001, she was a Geekcorps volunteer in Ghana and consulted with NGOs through USAID’s EDDI project. Shara is a contributor to the upcoming book published by O’Reilly Media and Yahoo Press, Designing Social Interfaces. Shara specializes in extending live events through the social web, and in October 2008 was in charge of social media for BarCamp Africa, an event sponsored and hosted by Google to connect people in Silicon Valley and African countries. In addition, she has blogged, tweeted, and shot video at technology and innovation conferences from San Francisco to DC to Johannesburg. She recently arranged a PBS FrontlineWorld iWitness interview covering the emerging technology scene in Swaziland. Shara currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Jen Myronuk, Filmmaker & Media Producer

Jen Myronuk, Filmmaker & Media Producer, Boulder, Colorado

Jen Myronuk is a community media producer, video geek and tech enthusiast. She has produced oral history projects and storytelling events focused on women’s political history in California. Her public policy videos cover issues ranging from homelessness to pay equity, including “Breaking Cycles, Rebuilding Lives”, exploring programs & services for incarcerated women in Santa Clara County jails. Jen has directed & produced over 250 episodes of Straight Talk at KSAR-15, a public affairs program for the Santa Clara County Democratic Club. She served on the Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women, as Media Co-Chair for the SCC Democratic Central Committee, and on the board of the National Women’s Political Caucus of California. Equally passionate about emerging technology and distribution of media online, Jen served as Vice President of Marketing for FireAnt (acquired by Sonic Mountain) and http://www.Odeo.com, and has produced videos for Timbuk2, Microsoft Windows Mobile and the WeVote08 campaign. In her spare time, Jen is a short story and screenwriting hobbyist and has recently left her native Silicon Valley for the mountains of Boulder, Colorado.

BilQis, Media Producer, Egypt

BilQis Aidara Adjei, Media Producer, Egypt

Through blogs, volunteer work, philanthropy, and on-line reporting BilQis exhibits a commitment to using words, images, and engagement to improve the lives of others. In the near future, she intends to use similar communications mediums to improve inter-state relations. BilQis’ professional background is in television production, project management, and conflict mediation. BilQis sharpened her television production skills within media companies, like CBS, NBC, Time Warner, BET, MTV, VH1, Rede Record, and Univision Puerto Rico. While working at CBSnews.com, she covered literary works by celebrity authors as well as celebrity humanitarian deeds. Also, BilQis has strengthened her videography skills by filming documentaries on her own in Brazil and Mexico. BilQis received her B.A. in Social Science, Communications, and the Performance Arts from New York University, magna cum laude, and is currently based in Egypt, where she provides insight into the region’s current acts of social innovation.

Igor Kharitonenkov, Media Producer

Igor Kharitonenkov, Media Producer & Environmentalist, Boston, Massachusetts

Born in Moscow, Russia, Igor also lived in Munich, Germany and Indianapolis, Indiana, before graduating with a degree in psychology from Indiana University. He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Igor has a never ending thirst to explore human behavior, culture, and society and loves traveling, adventure, and the outdoors. However, he is most passionate about environmental conservation and sustainability. Igor hopes to express himself through writing, photography and video to inspire people to get outdoors, enjoy the beauty of the backcountry, and build an appreciation of nature. He wants to captivate readers with excellent photojournalism and environmentally relevant news articles. Ultimately, Igor’s goal is to raise awareness of environmental issues and share steps we can all take to live a greener lifestyle.

Maya, Media Producer

Maya Gorton, Media Producer, San Francisco, California

Maya’s interest in empowering people to use design and technology for social change started in 1997 when she served as a WorldTeach volunteer in Thailand with Harvard’s Center for International Development. She witnessed first-hand the impact that the internet was having on communications in rural areas at that time. After getting her Masters at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU, she worked as an interaction designer for websites and products, using design and emerging technology to bridge the physical and virtual worlds in innovative ways. In the aftermath of the SE Asian tsunami of 2004, she co-founded The Phuket Project and used online media to mobilize hundreds of volunteers to assist in disaster relief, rebuilding schools, houses, and boats in Thailand. Maya holds a BA in Anthropology and Visual Arts from Columbia University and an M.P.S. from NYU, and received an award from New York Women in Communications for her work in Thailand. She is currently based in San Francisco, CA.

Jennifer, Advisor

Jennifer Sly, Chief of Awesome & Advisor, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Committed to assisting youth that she served while a Peace Corps Volunteer in Swaziland, a country with the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world, Jennifer founded YouthAssets, an organization that uses mobile technology to empower orphans and vulnerable youth in southern Africa. Jennifer’s background includes work as a Research Scientist for the Research and Development Center at Honeywell, Inc., where she conceptualized, proposed, and managed a proof of concept project in aviation safety for NASA. She also served as Director of a multi-service organization located in Queensbridge, the largest public housing development in the nation, where she focused on technology and community development. Jennifer’s experience includes working with the International Women’s Tribune Centre, International Telecommunications Union, and the UN ICT Task Force. Jennifer has an M.P.A. from the School of International Affairs at Columbia University and was selected by the MIT Media Lab as an IDEAS Fellow. Jennifer is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
